In what appeared to be an internal crisis in the leadership of the
Islamic terror group, Boko Haram sect, Mahammad Marwanu, who claimed to
be the second in command of the sect has challenged the leadership of
Abubakar Shekau over a ceasefire and dialogue with federal government
officials.Last week Marwanu announced that the sect reached an
agreement with federal government delegation on a ceasefire, a statement
which was rejected by Shekau in a reported video clip.
However, Marawanu yesterday accused Shekau of being an impediment to peace in the country.
He called on Nigerians to continue to pray, saying nobody among the members of the sect will listen to Shekau, whom he referred to as an interim leader.
Speaking to Voice of America, (VOA) Hausa service, Marwanu said “Between us who are praying for peace and he who prays for violence we are going to see whose prayer will be answered. Everybody is not happy, let him come out and do what said he would do and let us see if it is possible for him to do that.”
He said this time around there would be no deception in the ongoing discussion between the sect and the government.
“In this month of Ramadan we seek for forgiveness from every Muslim and we also forgive all. This is a journey I started and nobody will stop me.
And anybody who resists we will leave him behind and he will be alone, none of the mujahideen will join him.
