The discovery was made when troops embarked on cordon and search of Gwaska, Dangoma, Angwan Far and Bakin Kogi general area of Southern Kaduna State.
During the operation, the troops recovered 73 Dane Guns, 4 Locally Made Rifles, 1 Locally Made Machine Gun and 1 Locally Made Pistol. OPEN LETTER TO GOV NASIR EL RUFAI

By Vincent Bodam
Chancellor, Gurara Forum.

Your Excellency,

When on 29th May 2015 you were sworn in as Governor of Kaduna State, most of us indigenes of Kaduna state were hilarious and excited. Needless to say what our efforts were prior to Election Day. Some discerning minds like us who were non partisan saw the zeal, efficacy and efficiency in you and we thought you were the real deal, so we sat back to watch your action.
Two years down the line, we are witnesses to your flip flops among your achievements. While this is normal since you are human as well, but most of them dont strike me as mistakes. However, I will narrow it down to the area I find very strange.
Your Excellency, your hatred for Southern Kaduna is unprecedented, no matter how you try to veil it but your utterances and body language give you away. And you must read my mail to you with an open mind because you also wrote a memo to the President because you were not happy about certain things.
From your utterances, it is clear that you listen to a section of the state only. Your take on 30/70 % Christian/Muslim population in the state was to me unintelligent, because an intelligent person of your caliber should have asked those who told him so how they arrived at that conclusion. What scientific method was used to so conclude. How about the "reprisal" killings you keep brandishing about? Pray, did you ask them to show you the location where those foreign herdsmen were killed? Did you ask to see their graves? In this 21st century with the rule of law, the word reprisal is criminal in a court of competent jurisdiction. When a man is killed, the killer is sought and brought to justice. But where an aggrieved party resort to jungle violence by annihilating a whole village in the name of reprisal using maximum lethal force is not only criminal but an effrontery to your office.
You also told the world that you have advanced monies to the said foreign herdsmen who claimed they lost cattle and kinsmen while on their way back to their home countries in the post presidential elections crises of 2011 in order to appease them to stop the wanton killings in Southern Kaduna. This has attracted numerous interpretations which I'm sure you find offensive, but blame must be placed on your doorstep. Sir, did you take your time to find out who were given these monies and why did the killings continue unabated? Many people link this statement by you to your tweet of July 15, 2012 " we will write this for all to read. Anyone, soldier or not that kills the Fulani takes a loan repayable one day no matter how long it takes" it appears your impression of reprisal is a philosophy!
Sir when we read press releases of ZEMDA ( Zazzau Emirate Development Association) and MACBAN ( Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association Of Nigeria), we shiver and shudder because most of the things they say are stuff you say in your interviews which means you are in tandem with these bodies while you leave out the SOKAPU. In my humble opinion sir, you cannot love Southern Kaduna people if you cannot love SOKAPU and listen to them. Even those people working for you and showing SOKAPU distaste is because you as their master has shown your disdain for SOKAPU. But note that your Deputy Governor was the one that created the logo for the SOKAPU, but curiously, your loyalists of Southern Kaduna origins seem to be at daggers drawn with them, no thanks to you! We understand that some of them are even claiming that they don't belong to Southern Kaduna. Sir, I was born in Ungwan Sanusi in Tudun Wada and Baptised in St Augustine Catholic Church there ( which no longer exists) but I know my origins!!!
Sir, you were stoned and pelted on one of your trips in SK because people were angry and frustrated with the unexplained killings going on in the villages. It is apparent you believe in reprisal so much that you decided to lock down the few higher institutions in that zone. The COE, School of Nursing and the Kafanchan Campus of KASU have been closed since then. Noteworthy is that you are not the only executive that has been pelted before. Backtrack to 2012, then Governor Patrick Yakowa was physically attacked in Zonkwa, in 2014, Governor Ramallam Yero was stoned and pelted in Bondon in Kaura LG, he was again stoned in 2015 with naked women protesting in Sanga. He was again pelted in Rigasa , a Kaduna surburb. Even then President Goodluck Jonathan was stoned and harassed in Katsina, Bauchi and Plateau States, none of these gentlemen reacted the way you did. When you returned to Kaduna you had a press conference in Hausa clearly to speak to a section of the state where you denigrated and emasculated the people of Southern Kaduna. Even during the Boko Haram madness, UnIversity of Maiduguri was never closed Which was in the epicenter of the violence! And with the heavy presence of the military in SK, why are the schools closed for over four months now? In Zaria where students were beaten up and raped in Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic and the FCE during sectarian crises, schools were not closed for more than three weeks. To my knowledge, no students in any of the aforementioned schools in SK has ever been harassed.
You have numerously arrested and jailed people from Southern Kaduna over what you term as cyber crime. You seem to have zero tolerance for criticisms. You have prosecuted people like Luka Binniyat, John Danfulani, Audu Maikori, Nasiru Jagaba, Midat Joseph., while you have forgotten so soon your activities on social media when on November 25, 2014 you tweeted that then President Goodluck Jonathan was going to Chad to plot attacks with the Chadian President. On September 8, 2014 you also tweeted Andy accused the then CAN President, Ayo Oritsejafor of being the commander of the so called Christian Boko Haram. You also tweeted that Oritsejafor received 50 billion Naira and a jet to tarnish the name of Islam. On november 9th 2013, you tweeted the picture of Jonathan kneeling down in prayer and you piqued thus " many prayers of the lazy, docile, incompetent, clueless, hopeless, useless leader!" Amongst others, and considering you were then an ex minister of the Federal republic, nobody arrested or prosecuted you But to my chagrin, you are involved in petty arrests and prosecutions !. To me this is unwholesome and petty. When the MACBAN accused the military of killing 12 of their herdsmen, and the military did a rebuttal and asked them not to drag them into their propaganda machinery, I for one, waited to see your reaction which never came, so you wouldn't blame me if I point at your prejudiced reactions of events in the state.
while I pray that you complete your first term well, I wish to remind you that the onus is on you to show a balanced reaction to events in the state Regardless of what impression you have and you must listen to all parties because there is always two sides in a story. I wish you well.
God bless Kaduna State.

REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS PERSONS MOVING IN AND OUT OF YOUR VICINITY AND SAFEGUARD THE LIVE OF INNOCENT NIGERIANS.....Together we can flush out this Islamic terrorist parading themselves as Fulani herdsmen..

Herdsmen killings: Time to act is Now!

More killings of villagers by herdsmen have been reported since my last piece on the subject; which means that this is one problem we can’t wish away. The image of the Fulani herdsman with a long stick hung across his shoulders has now been replaced by that of a mean, AK-47-wielding pastoral militant baying for blood.

The problem cuts across all the six zones of Nigeria and I dare say that both Christians and Muslims alike have numbered among their victims. In Umunneochi, Bende and Ohafia in Abia State, there have been reports of destruction of farm crops and raping of their women. In Aruke and Ogboropre farmlands on the bank of the River Forcados, encroachment into farmlands by cattle herders has been reported and many of the communities in those areas have now barred the herdsmen from accessing their communities.

In Wanikade and Wanihem, Cross River State, over seventeen people received gunshot wounds and machete cuts following disagreement over whether to allow herdsmen settle and graze their cattle along their common borders.

Two years ago, Ntan Obu in Odukpani Local Government Area was reportedly attacked by Fulani herdsmen in collaboration with villagers from Ikpanya who had leased the land to them. In that instance, the arrival of the herdsmen complicated an inter-communal land struggle.

In Ondo State, the state government announced an outright ban on night grazing, movement of cattle in the night and rearing of cattle within Akure and its communities. Several clashes had been reported in the past in many Akoko communities. Owo, Ifon, Ogbese and Ilado have also had their taste of herdsmen’s violence.

In many parts of the North also, there is constant friction between the herdsmen and the farmers. Herdsmen will always seek greener pastures while farmers will always protect their crops from rampaging cattle. I remember witnessing one of such clashes many years ago on Mambilla Plateau. The recent case of the murder of over 300 people in Agatu villages has brought the issue into sharper relief, more so as the mayhem has continued.

Plateau, Nassarawa, Benue, Adamawa, Kwara, Niger states have at one time or the other had to contend with this problem. I dare say that no state is free of the problem.

Some attempts have been made in the past to stem the problem but none on national scale. For example, Enugu State drew up a bill entitled “A law to make provisions for the control of nomadic cattle rearing in Enugu State and other matters related thereto” in 2014 which sought to map out grazing reserves for cattle rearers in all the 17 local government areas of the state. The bill was eventually killed.

The Enugu example is the kind of intervention that many Nigerians have been hoping to see since the recent spiraling of the problem. Silence or kid glove treatment fuels suspicion and conspiracy theories which many Nigerians revel in. By now, somebody ought to have been directed to present a revised version of the Enugu bill for consideration by the National Council of States so that we can proffer a collective solution as one people, not as 36 scattered states. We could also dust up the proposals for the establishment of nationwide grazing reserves drawn up under Akinwumi Adesina’s tenure as agriculture minister.

It is about time something is urgently done on the national level. The authorities must now rise to the occasion. There has been no shortage of ideas by the public. I publish below the thoughts of one of such concerned Nigerians, Dr. Victor Oladokun.

7 THINGS PMB MUST DO NOW
I have been warned that I will be labeled an ‘enemy’ for stating the address the issue of herdsmen killing innocent villagers but I love my country more than I fear blackmailers. In my humble opinion wisdom, tact, and common sense dictate that President Muhammadu Buhari do the following:
Address the nation directly on TV and radio.
Commiserate with affected communities deliver a message of peace and hope.
Promise the rapid delivery of compensation and restitution to the survivors, the wounded, and the families of those who have lost loved ones and livelihoods.
·Go on BBC and other relevant radio services that Fulanis have a tendency to listen to. Speak to them in their own language, and in no uncertain terms state that this nonsense must come to an end quickly.

Set up and empower a Rapid Task Force with a view to stopping future violence and preventing a national conflict that might be much more difficult to contain.
Personally visit the affected communities to see things for yourself.
Meet with the leadership of Myetti Allah, the umbrella association of Fulani cattle herders, and explain in vivid detail what the consequences of future conflicts could be. As a start, all herdsmen must be disarmed immediately, otherwise we are only postponing the evil day.
Mr President, you owe it to Nigerians, to the many Fulani herdsmen of no determinate nationality who rampage and roam Nigeria, and to future generations, to be seen at this time to be on top of the unfortunate situation; to the plight of affected communities in word and deed; and to the security implications of these most barbaric and medieval acts.
Mr. President, If you have not been told already by the fawning advisors who tend to obsequiously kowtow to Presidents and only tell them what they want to hear, let me reveal that today, in the seeming absence of security and the denial by government officials of the massacres, Nigerians in large numbers are talking about the necessity of arming themselves by all means possible. They are beginning to realise that dead men and women do not write history.
Mr. President Sir, for your good, and the good of Nigerians, I respectfully ask you to act and speak now, before it is too late!

President Buhari’s 55th Independence Speech - Full Text

October 1st is a day for joy and celebrations for us Nigerians, whatever the circumstances we find ourselves in because it is the day, 55 years ago; we liberated ourselves from the shackles of colonialism and began our long march to nationhood and to greatness.

“No temporary problems or passing challenges should stop us from honouring this day. Let us remind ourselves of the gifts God has given us. Our Creator has bequeathed to us Numbers – Nigeria is the ninth most populated country on the planet. We have in addition arable land; water; forests; oil and gas; coastline; and solid minerals

“We have all the attributes of a great nation. We are not there yet because the one commodity we have been unable to exploit to the fullest is unity of purpose. This would have enabled us to achieve not only more orderly political evolution and integration but also continuity and economic progress.

“Countries far less endowed have made greater economic progress by greater coherence and unity of purpose.

“Nonetheless, that we have remained together is an achievement we should all appreciate and try to consolidate. We have witnessed this year a change in our democratic development.

“The fact that an opposition party replaced an entrenched government in a free and fair election is indicative of the deeper roots of our democratic system. Whatever one’s views are, Nigerians must thank former President Jonathan for not digging-in in the face of defeat and thereby saving the country untold consequences.

“As I said in my inaugural speech, I bear no ill will against anyone on past events. Nobody should fear anything from me. We are not after anyone. People should only fear the consequences of their actions. I hereby invite everyone, whatever his or her political view to join me in working for the nation.

“My countrymen and women, every new government inherits problems. Ours was no different. But what Nigerians want are solutions, quick solutions not a recitation of problems inherited.

“Accordingly, after consultations with the Vice President, senior party leaders and other senior stakeholders, I quickly got down to work on the immediate, medium-term and long-term problems which we must solve if we are to maintain the confidence which Nigerians so generously bestowed on us in the March elections and since then.

“As you know, I toured the neighbouring countries, marshalled a coalition of armed forces of the five nations to confront and defeat Boko Haram. I met also the G-7 leaders and other friendly presidents in an effort to build an international coalition against Boko Haram.

“Our gallant armed forces under new leadership have taken the battle to the insurgents, and severely weakened their logistical and infrastructural capabilities. Boko Haram are being scattered and are on the run.

“That they are resorting to shameless attacks on soft targets such as I.D.P. camps is indicative of their cowardice and desperation. I have instructed security and local authorities to tighten vigilance in vulnerable places.

On power, government officials have held a series of long sessions over several weeks about the best way to improve the nation’s power supply in the safest and most cost-effective way.

“In the meantime, improvement in the power supply is moderately encouraging. By the same token, supply of petrol and kerosene to the public has improved throughout the country. All the early signs are that within months the whole country would begin to feel a change for the better.

“Preliminary steps have been taken to sanitize NNPC and improve its operations so that the inefficiency and corruption could be reduced to a minimum.

“Those of our refineries which can be serviced and brought back into partial production would be enabled to resume operations so that the whole sordid business of exporting crude and importing finished products in dubious transactions could be stopped.

“Appointment Of More Northerners” – Buhari Finally Opens Up

President Muhammadu Buhari has broken his silence on his appointments, which many Nigerians have described as “lopsided”.

Buhari in an interview with BBC Hausa on Tuesday said the Constitution allowed him full control over the choice of his closest officials.

The president assured that he was not ignoring some section of his society in his appointments, explaining that those he appointed were some of his most trusted associates.

Responding to the interviewer’s question on the controversy generated by the appointments, Buhari said “This is the nature of Nigerian politics”.

“If they will do justice to me, as an elected Nigerian president, let them look at the Constitution a Nigerian president works with, there are people who will closely work with me that don’t need to be taken to the Senate.

“If I select people whom I know quite well in my political party, whom we came all the way right from the APP, CPC and APC, and have remained together in good or bad situation, the people I have confidence in and I can trust them with any post, will that amount to anything wrong?

“I have been with them throughout our trying times, what then is the reward of such dedication and suffering?

“They did not defect because of positions, they did not involve themselves in the pursuit of personal gains, and they accepted their fate throughout our trying moments.

“What is wrong if I make you the secretary (of the federal government) because I have confidence that things will go normal?”

On the abducted Chibok girls missing since April 2014, Buhari said the Boko Haram sect had “have scattered them, and are being guarded at dispersed locations.

“Most of the girls are Christians and were forced to embrace Islam. And the sect’s cruel leaders have married some of the girls, obviously against their wish. Others have been left to practice their religion but their condition could hardly be ascertained.

“Both ground and air security personnel in the Sambisa forest could spot where the girls are, but since the insurgents have also kidnapped housewives and other women, no one could say whether they mixed them or how they dispersed them.”

Two Isis-bound Nigerians Arrested In India

Image result for isisTwo young Nigerians suspected to be on their way to joining the Islamic State (ISIS) terror gang were on Friday arrested at the volatile India-Pakistan border after scaling a barbed wire fence near the border .

Alert Border Security Force (BSF) troopers apprehended Imran Kabeer and Sani Jamiliu both from Kano and later handed them over to Punjab Police.

The suspects aged between 24 and 25 told BSF officials they wanted to go to Pakistan and later to Iraq.

They carried no valid travel documents to enter Pakistan.

Both youths arrived in the Sikh holy city of Amritsar, 30 km from Punjab, on Thursday from Delhi in a hired taxi. They argued with the taxi driver on Thursday night, hoodwinked him and drove away his Swift Dzire car.

They arrived at the integrated check point at Attari on Friday morning.

“On finding the border gates closed, the youths moved towards a barbed wire fence along the Attari-Wagah rail track (on which the Samjhauta Express peace train between both countries plies) and jumped over the high barbed wire fence, thinking they had entered Pakistan. BSF personnel immediately nabbed them,” a BSF official said.

BSF Amritsar sector deputy inspector general, M.F. Farooqui, confirmed the arrest.

Buhari Initiates Moves For Domestic Weapons Production

President Buhari has initiated moves for the production of weapons in Nigeria. According to a statement signed and released by Senior Special Adviser to the president on media and publicity Garba Shehu today August 7th, President Buhari charged the Federal Ministry of Defence to produce a plan for the establishment of a modest Military Industrial Complex for the local production of weapons to meet some of the requirements of the country's armed forces. The statement after the cut..

President Muhammadu Buhari Friday in Abuja directed the Federal Ministry of Defence to produce a plan for the establishment of a modest Military Industrial Complex for the local production of weapons to meet some of the requirements of the country's armed forces. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the National Defence College, President Buhari described as unacceptable, Nigeria's current over-dependence on other countries for critical military equipment and logistics. "We must evolve viable mechanisms for near-self-sufficiency in military equipment and logistics production complemented only by very advanced foreign technologies. "The Ministry of Defence is being tasked to draw up clear and measurable outlines for development of a modest Military Industrial Complex for Nigeria. "In this regard, it is to liaise with other strategic MDAs and industries to re-engineer the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) to meet national military hardware and logistics requirements," the President said. President Buhari told the gathering that his administration had, since its assumption of office, reviewed the nature and character of Nigeria's security threats and challenges. "We recognized first and foremost, the external dimensions of these threats and the need for international cooperation and common security mechanisms to tackle them," the President said.

President Buhari added that in the light of this realization, his Administration was "convinced that the best approach was to work within the framework of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) to mobilize a collective regional effort in the fight against terrorism and insurgency.

The President urged the graduates and officers and men of the Armed Forces to work harder to win the war against Boko Haram, terrorism and insurgency.

"We must apply a comprehensive strategy and coordinate all elements of national power against terrorism and insurgency; we must show result oriented leadership at all levels of military Command; we must set up an optimal organization to manage and sustain operational performance; and we must show confidence and winning mentality," President Buhari told them.

The President assured that the Federal Government under his leadership will strive to meet the operational, logistic, training and welfare requirements of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to ameliorating the hardships of people living in areas most affected by insurgency and terrorism.

"We have the will, resolve and conviction to apply a comprehensive strategy and coordinate all elements of national power against terrorism and insurgency," the President reassured Nigerians and the international community.

President Buhari said that the National Defence College had fulfilled the vision of its founding fathers, by becoming a strategic human capacity-building institution, making credible contributions to Nigeria and other friendly countries.

The President urged graduates of the College's Course 23 to resolve to make "a marked difference in your future deployments and contribute your quota to the evolution and implementation of national security, defence and military strategies."
"You should be the source that lights up the environment wherever you find yourselves," he told them.

APC Insists It’ll Form Parallel Govt If Election Is Rigged

The All Progressives Congress, APC has pledged to congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan if he wins next month’s presidential election fair and clean but also vowed to form parallel government if the election is rigged.

The party in a congratulatory message to Nigerians on the occasion of the Yuletude and Eid-el-Maulud celebrations said it was clearly aware of the bleak celebrations occasioned by government corruption that has brought misery to the large majority of the working class.

Telling Nigerians not to despair that hope was near, the party in the statement personally signed by its national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun said: “We are aware that it has been a bleak celebrations for all of us because of the poor performance of the economy, litany of failed promises and general decay in governance in our dear country, including unpaid salaries which is as a result of the drop in the state and local government revenue.

The drop in the state and local government revenue is as a result of corruption in government, The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC and oil theft, supervised by government.
“We ask all Nigerians to exercise fortitude, because the change we seek is almost here. We wish to also remind you that the change, we expect will be a consequence of your action. That action will be to vote massively for the All Progressives Congress, APC in the next election to herald the new dawn and bid farewell to the failed leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

We ask you to collectively insist on free, fair and transparent election, because that is the only way to allow the wishes of the people to manifest.
“As a party, we assure you that we will congratulate president Goodluck Jonathan and his party, PDP If our presidential candidate and party are defeated in free and fair elections, and we will not go to court.

However, as a party, we wish to reiterate, that we will not hesitate forming a parallel government, if the 2015 election are rigged either by the use of security agencies (police or military) to harass, intimidate and cajole voters or through the use of a compromise Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).”
